Karat should publish letter written by Achuthanandan: P.C. George

KOTTAYAM: Government chief whip P C George on Friday said CPI-M General Secretary Prakash Karat should publish the letter written to him by Kerala opposition leader V S Achuthanandan asking its central leadership to intervene in the state party affairs and recast the leadership.

"If the letter is published, all disgraced leaders of the party will be imprisoned," he told reporters here.

Achuthanandan had in his letter last month said the morale of the party cadre in Kerala had been affected, especially in the wake of the murder of former party activist T P Chandrasekharan.

He also wanted the central leadership to seriously consider recasting the state leadership headed by Vijayan and said he was not interested in continuing as leader of the opposition in the prevailing scenario.

George said UDF candidate P Selvaraj's win at the Neyattinkara by-poll was a mandate for the government to perform well for the rest of its term.

He said UDF would never resort to doing away with its political opponents and insisted that the Front would survive even if three or four leaders left it.
