12 powerful bombs seized at Chokli



KANNUR: Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing the murder of RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan, recovered 12 powerful bombs from an unused plot at Kaviyoor Road near Taha Auditorium at Thazhe Chockli town in this district today. According to police, the SIT team led by Thalassery DySP A P Showkathali recovered bombs during a raid at Chokli, a politically sensitive area near Koothuparamaba, as per the confession of one of the accused in this murder, Sunithan of Chockli, while interrogation.


The bombs-- 11 steel bombs and one country made-- were kept in two plastic buckets and one plastic bag. The place where the bombs were kept was showed by Sunithan to the bomb squad at 0945 hrs. Later the bombs were defused by the bomb squad. A dog squad also reached the spot and police conducted raids at nearby places. Earlier, police had recovered the car used by the killer gang on the next day of the murder.
