Woman ends life at in-laws’ house


PALAKKAD: Saritha, 28, daughter of Thankappan of Neelikad in Pudussery, allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at her in-laws’ house at V K Challa near Walayar on Saturday. Saritha was said to be much grieved as the family members of her husband Sanoj had refused to accept her.
According to sources, Sanoj and Saritha, who were married for the last six years, were staying in Coimbatore. When Sanoj lost his job six months ago, he left Saritha in Coimbatore and returned home.
But after that he rarely visited his wife, forcing her to return to her home in Pudussery.
Though Saritha wanted to join her husband, the in-laws allegedly sent her back. On Saturday, Saritha along with her father Thankappan went to Sanoj’s house. But his family members refused to let them in.
Later, the brother of Saritha recovered a letter from their house in which the deceased had stated that she was going to commit suicide and that her husband and his family members were responsible for the death.
The Cusaba police who arrived on a complaint by Sanoj’s family were informed that Satheesh had forced Saritha to take poison.
The police immediately arrested him and his friends who were preparing to take Saritha to the hospital, the relatives said.
Satheesh and his friends were later released on bail. Though Saritha’s father took her to the district hospital she breathed her last soon. Meanwhile, the police said that Satheesh was arrested in a case related to the attack on a political worker.
According to the police, a case of unnatural death based on a complaint by Satheesh has been registered.
The police also said that Satheesh had not produced any suicide note while registering the complaint.
