Unannounced power cuts in Kerala


Friday, April 13, 2012: Parts of Kerala have started to experience unannounced power cuts as the water level in the Idukki reservoir has gone further down.
The reservoir has 32 feet of usable water which is just 28 per cent of its total capacity. The maximum draw down level of the Idukki reservoir, which is the main source of power generation for the state, is 2280 feet.
According to reports, the an announced power cuts have been ordered during the peak hours to bring down the usage to the minimum.
