UDF meet today to discuss IUML demand

Wednesday, April 11, 2012: With IUML’s demand for a fifth ministerial cabinet berth assuming dimensions of a crisis in ruling Congress-led UDF in Kerala, a crucial meeting of the constituents is to be held here on Wednesday to work out a solution.
Amid reports that the Congress is in no mood to yield to the ally’s claim, the IUML’s state executive met in Malappuram today to formulate the stand to be taken at the UDF meeting.
After the party meet held at Panakkad in Malapurram, party leader and state Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty said a final decision on the issue would be taken by the UDF conclave tomorrow. “There will be a decision on the issue tomorrow. We are optimistic. This issue has not created a crisis in the UDF. The reports appearing in media on the matter are not correct”, Kunhalikutty told reporters.
KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala, who discussed the issue with AICC president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi today, also voiced similar sentiments.
