UDF answerable to majority community: NSS

ADOOR: NSS general secretary G Sukumaran Nair demanded an explanation from Oommen Chandy, K M Mani and Kunhalikkutty for limiting the majority community representation in the Cabinet to 10 while gifting 14 to the minorities. Speaking at a function organised by the NSS Taluk Union here, he added that the ministers representing the majority community are given portfolios with less importance.
“The NSS was accused of pushing the name of Ramesh Chennithala for the chief ministership. Though he was eligible, the NSS had made it clear that at the time of Cabinet formation Oommen Chandy was the right person for the post,” he said, adding that the NSS will not pass any comment on the ‘fifth-minister row’.
Sukumaran Nair asserted that nobody can intimidate the NSS and the organisation is not at anybody’s mercy.
NSS president P N Narendranathan Nair presided over the function. NSS Registrar K N Viswanathan Pillai, Kalanjoor Madhu, and  K G Jeevakumar spoke.
