RSP Secretary summoned by Court

KOLLAM: The false affidavit row which seemed to have died down for a while has landed Eravipuram MLA and RSP state secretary AA Aziz in trouble. The Kollam First Class Judicial Magistrate Court II on Friday issued a summons to the MLA to appear before it on July 20, on a petition related to an alleged false affidavit.
Finding him prima facie guilty of swearing a false affidavit while filing his nomination papers and forging false documents to prove it true, Magistrate P V Aneesh Kumar has taken cognisance of the complaint under Session 125 A of the Representation of People Act, 1951 (false affidavit) and IPC Section 198 (using as true a certificate known to be false), Section 193 (false evidence), Section 199 (false statement made in declaration which is by law receivable as evidence).
The petition filed by M Nisam, a voter of Eravipuram Assembly constituency, alleged that Aziz had given false information regarding his educational qualification while filing his nomination papers in 2006 and 2011.
The affidavit filed by Aziz in 2006 claimed that he had passed Class X. When complaints were lodged with the Election Commission, the MLA produced his Class X certificate before the returning officer of Eravipuram constituency.
In the affidavit filed in 2011, he claimed that he completed the Class VI examination through private registration and passed an SSLC equivalent examination.
