Relaxation in cabotage law recommended at Vallarpadam

Sunday, April 1, 2012: The Central Planning Commission has on Sunday recommended relaxation in the cabotage law at Vallarpadam Container Terminal. The relaxation will be in effect for three years, after which it will be re-examined.
It is the centre and the shipping ministry, which will have to take a decision on the recommendation. If the relaxation is recognized by the centre, foreign feeder ships will be able to conduct freight transportation between Indian ports.
