Ration shops in Kerala to be made more user friendly


Monday, April 16, 2012: Ration shops in Kerala would be made more user friendly and functions of civil Supplies department would be made transparent, Food and Civil Supplies minister Anoop Jacob said here today.
Government would ensure ration cardholders get their quantum of quality food articles without fail every week, Jacob Jacob, the KC-J nominee,who was sworn in last week told a meet the press organised by Kesari Memorial Journalist Trust here.
The Rs one per kg rice scheme would be extended to more categories of people and the main focus of congress led UDF government was implementation of welfare programmes, he said.
On his impressive victory at Piravom assembly bypoll, Jacob, son of former Minister and KC-J leader T M Jacob who died in October last, said his victory was proof tof the success of the UDF government’s programmes.
The victory in Piravom was expected and the huge margin of more than 10,000 votes have increased his responsibility, he added.
