PG doctors began indefinite strike

Monday, April 23, 2012: The PG doctors in five government-run medical colleges of the state began indefinite strike from Monday morning.
The doctors called for strike protesting against the mandatory rural service. House surgeons also came out in support of the strike.
Prior to the strike, the doctors held relay strike for one week and during that time talks between the agitating doctors and the government failed to break the deadlock.
Though government asked for more time to solve the issue the doctors union had not agreed. Health department officials said that they have taken all necessary precautions to avoid the strike affecting the patients.
