Party did not stop me from visiting Koodankulam, says VS

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan Sunday said he was not stopped by his party from joining the anti-Koodankulam struggle in Tamil Nadu. Talking to newspersons here, he said his party did not ask him not to join the anti-Koodnkulam struggle as reported in various medias. "However, I am yet to take a decision to go there," he added. Earlier, just after the 20th CPI (M) party congress, the CPI (M) leader announced that he would take part in the anti-nuclear struggle.

It was also reported that the CPI (M) had asked VS not to join the struggle citing 'foreign' displeasure. The party also informed Achuthanandan that its Tamil Nadu unit had been supporting the plant. The CPI (M) was also worried that VS could adopt a stand against the party after he failed to make a comeback to the politburo.
