Palmolein case vigilance court judge PK Haneefa transferred

Thiruvananthapuram, Monday, April 9, 2012: Vigilance Court Judge PK Haneefa has been transferred to the Manjeri District Court as Principal Sessions Judge.
Haneefa, who ordered a further probe into the role of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in the palmolein case, withdrew himself from hearing the palmolein case following a complaint against him by Government Chief Whip PC George earlier.
The judge alleged that he was targeted for ordering a probe in the Palmolein case. However, the Palmolein case was later shifted to Thrissur Vigilance Court from the vigilance court here. He was was appointed as Thiruvananthapuram Vigilance Court judge last year.
Usually judges were transferred once in three years. This was not followed in his case, sources said. Earlier, Mr Haneefa also heard the Travancore Titanium Corruption case in which Oommen Chandy was allegedly involved.
