Nearly 1,600 PG seats in Ernakulam district

Over 1, 600 seats are available for various postgraduate programmes offered by nearly 30 government, aided and self-financing colleges affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University in Ernakulam district for the new academic year.


As many as 303 seats are available in government sector while the total intake in aided colleges is 977. In self-financing courses, the total number of seats available for admission is 400.

The intake in government and aided colleges in the city: Maharajas College (261); Government Sanskrit College, Tripunithura (13); Bharata Mata College, Trikkakara (35); S.H. College, Thevara (129); St. Albert's College (60); St. Teresa's College (106).


The break-up of seats available in other government and aided colleges in the district:


Government College, Manimalakunnu (27); Al-Ameen College, Edathala (15); Aquinas College, Edakochi (10); Cochin College (27); Mar Athanasius College, Kothamangalam (62); Morning Star Home Science College, Angamali (12); Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha (97); S.N.M. College, Maliankara (61); SSV College, Valayanchirangara (15); Sree Sankara College, Kalady (76); St. Paul's College, Kalamassery (52); St. Peter's College, Kolencherry (55); St. Xavier's College for Women, Aluva (42); and U. C. College, Aluva (122).


The intake for various postgraduate programmes in the self-financing mode offered by colleges: Al-Ameen College, Edathala (20); Baselius Poulose II Catholicos College, Piravom (60); Cochin College (20); MES College, Marampally (60); Mar Thoma College for Women, Perumbavoor (20); Morning Star Home Science College, Angamali (20); S. H. College, Thevara (20); SNM College, Maliankara (50); SSV College, Valayanchirangara (30); St. Albert's College (50); and St. Paul's College, Kalamassery (50).


In government colleges, nearly 160 seats are available for various humanities courses. The intake for postgraduate programmes is about 110. For M. Com, the number of seats available is only 15 (Government College, Manimalakunnu, Koothattukulam).
