KSRTC's new services on Kaloor-Elamakkar route

KOCHI: KSRTC has decided to start new services on Kaloor-Elamakkara route. The decision was taken in response to constant complaints by people regarding the lack of bus services in the area. MLA Hibi Eden said, “The KSRTC officials will probably ply the services by the end of this month.
At the moment, they are taking decisions on fixing a schedule based on the public demand.”
The residents of the area welcomed the decision as most of the private buses plying on the route have been skipping services in the last few months.
“Most of the time, we have to wait long to take a ride home. This is a major hassle for office-goers who are either rushing to work or getting home after work,” said Babu, a resident of Pottakuzhi.
The buses are most crowded during rush hours. Earlier, around three KSRTC buses used to ply through the route. However, the services were stopped due to shortage of staff in KSRTC. “We were forced to stop the services as there were no drivers to run the buses. Now that recruitments are on, there are better chances of resuming the services,” said a KSRTC official.
At present, road maintenance works on Pottakuzhi-Perandoor route have been undertaken prior to the start of the KSRTC services.
