‘IUML will not do anything to harm cordial ties’

KOZHIKODE: Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) activists will not do anything to harm the existing cordial relations between Congress and IUML, a top IUML leader said today.
Speaking to media persons after the leadership meeting of IUML here, its General Secretary E T Mohammed Basheer said his party got the fifth minister berth through mutual understanding.
He said the party was not interested in replying to the adverse remarks by some individuals on the issue.
IUML's Manjalamkuzhi Ali, MLA was inducted into the UDF cabinet on April 12.
He alleged that there was attempts to communalise the demand of IUML seeking a fifth ministerial berth in the UDF ministry. The party reserved the ministerial berth, he said.
The induction of IUML’s fifth minister in the UDF ministry had evoked sharp criticism from the opposition as well as from some senior Congress leaders including V M Sudheeran, power minister Aryadan Muhammed and former KPCC President K Muraleedharan, MLA.
They have also abstained from the swearing-in ceremony of Ali.
