Human chain formed against graft

The campaign committee formed to expose the alleged corruption in the Kozhikode Corporation formed a human chain on Tuesday. The participants also took a pledge to strive for eradication of corruption from public life.

The former chairman of the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) M.G.S. Narayanan who addressed the participants said that a mass upsurge alone would be effective in eradicating corruption and the corrupt. Such a movement had to be above politics and people from all walks of life should be part of it, he said.

The human chain programme was formed in front of the Gandhi statue near the Corporation office.

“The fight against corruption has become a life or death struggle. It is time people developed zero tolerance towards corruption,” he said.

Besides Dr. Narayanan, social activists K. Anandakanakam; and K.P. Vijayakumar; former Minister and Leader of the Opposition in Corporation Council M.T. Padma; and anti-corruption action committee leaders P.T. John; and councillors P. Kishenchand and K. Mohammed Ali, K. Sreekumar and N.C. Moieenkutty joined the human chain.
