Final decision on fifth cabinet berth tomorrow, says Chennithala

NEW DELHI: A final decision on Muslim League’s fifth cabinet berth will be taken at the UDF meet convened tomorrow, said KPCC chief Ramesh Chennithala. The opinion of the state congress on it has been informed to the high command, he said. But the final decision will be taken by the UDF, Chennithala told reporters here.

Muslim League is a major partner of the UDF for the past 40 years. It has not created any headache for the congress or for the UDF. A decision on the fifth minister, Rajya Sabha seat and the swearing in of Anoop Jacob will be taken at the UDF meet tomorrow. When asked whether the decision would be favorable for the League, he said the congress expects to move forward by satisfying all parties. As congress is a democratic party, problems will be solved through talks, he added.

Chennithala said, “I’ll not be inducted in the cabinet. The chief minister will decide on the portfolio of Anoop Jacob. The fifth cabinet berth of League has not affected the functioning of the government.”

How can VS serve as the opposition leader when he was denied entry in the politburo citing old age, asked Chennithala.
