Friday, April 6, 2012: IUML meet to be held on Friday would discuss the new compromise formula put forward by Congress High Command.IUML leadership had decided earlier not to comment on the issue until they receive an official announcement in this regard. Muslim league general secretary E. T. Mohammed Basheer, however, said that they were not aware of the evolution of any formula to accommodate the party’s demand for adequate representation in the state cabinet.
Under the new compromise formula presented before Congress president Sonia Gandhi by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala in New Delhi Thursday, both Piravom MLA Anoop Jacob and Muslim league leader Manjalamkuzhi Ali would be handed ministerial berths.
One of the four IUML ministers, who will have to resign to accommodate Ali in the state cabinet, would be fielded for the post of Kerala Assembly Speaker. The meeting had also decided to induct the present Speaker of Kerala Assembly, G.Karthikeyan, into the ministry.
