Court orders release of Prabhu Daya

AMBALAPPUZHA: A local court here has ordered the release of Singapore cargo vessel Prabhu Daya, which had collided with a fishing boat off Alappuzha, killing five fishermen. The Judicial First Class Magistrate ordered that the owners of the ship should remit Rs 10 crore as guarantee money and produce two persons with Rs ten lakh as surety. Following the incident, the Kerala police took the vessel under police custody and anchored it off Chennai coast. Meanwhile, a local court in Alappuzha would consider the bail application of Prashob Sughathan Tuesday. He was reportedly at the controls in 'Prabhu Daya' when the ship collided with the fishing boat.
