Charred bodies of woman, child found in Vellarada

Vellarada, Thursday, April 05, 2012: The local police traced the charred bodies of a 23-year-old woman and her child at their residence near Vellarad here on Thursday morning. The deceased has been identified as Kavitha and Kavya, hailing from Arumana, police told.
Kavitha’s husband- Sathyan, who is an accused in several criminal cases and was in custody under goonda act, was released on bail recently. Following the incident he was taken into custody by the Vellarada police.
The local residents, who saw smoke emanating from the house and hearing the commotion immediately informed the matter to the police. The room, where the bodies were lying, was found to be locked from inside.
The police have not ruled out the chances of a suicide.
