CBI Court to hear SNC Lavalin case today


Tuesday, April 10, 2012: The Thiruvananthapuram CBI special Court will today hear the SNC Lavalin case in which Pinarayi Vijayan, Communist Party of India (Marxist) Polit Bureau member is the seventh accused.
The Court had earlier directed the nine accused including CPM State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan to appear in person. CBI will also submit a further probe report whether former Electricity Minister G Karthikeyan had been involved in the case.
Lavalin company’s vice president Claus Trendel, who is the sixth accused in the case, has not appeared before the Court even though directed.
The SNC Lavalin scandal is financial scam related to the contracting of the government with a Canadian company, SNC-Lavalin which resulted in an alleged net loss to the exchequer of 374.50 crore.
