Call for impartiality in CBI probe

KOCHI: LDF convenor Vaikom Viswan has alleged that the CBI has been acting like a quotation gang. Inaugurating a march taken out to the CBI office organised by the CPM against the move to book some CPM workers in the Thalassery Fasal murder case, Viswan said the investigation agency should not act like a goonda gang with political agenda and vested interests.
He said the CBI has been carrying out the interests of its  political heads. He cited  Abhaya case as an example for political intervention. The number of CBI officials opting out or committing suicide owing to heavy political pressure is increasing, he said.
Viswan said the CPM would support all attempts to nab the real criminals. But the probe should be impartial. The govt should look into the activities of the investigation officer, he said.
P Jayarajan said the CBI probe is a move to arrest CPM leaders in a false case. There was no evidence in the case even after three years of probe, he said, adding that the probe should be carried out on the whereabouts of the investigation officer.
