Body Unweighing System opened at Amrita


KOCHI: A new Body Unweighing System and Computerised Gait Trainer has been launched at the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre.
Hospital authorities said the equipment is useful for unweighing and gait training for patients with hemiplegia, various neuroparalytic diseases like acute inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (AIDP) or Guillain-Barre syndrome, peripheral neuropathy, transverse myelitis, parkinson’s disease, those who are recovering from tumours of brain, head injuries, spinal injuries with paraplegia, after orthopaedic procedures and amputations.
It is also helpful for bedridden patients to initiate walking.
