Attack on scribe in Kollam; one more held

Monday, April 16, 2012: One more person has been taken into custody by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team probing the case relating to brutal attack on ‘Mathrubhumi’ reporter VB Unnithan at Sasthamcotta on April 25 last year.
The accused has been identified as Crime Branch DySP N.A Rasheed by a probe team headed by CBI additional SP Jayakumar. He was later produced before the Kochi Chief judicial magistrate Court.
The journalist was attacked in Kollam by a group of people who came on bikes. He was rushed to a nearby hospital and was subjected to an emergency surgery. Unnithan, a native of Sasthamkotta, is said to have been manhandled following some reports that appeared in the daily prior to the Assembly elections.
