Achuthanandan boycotts CPM public meet in Kozhikode


Monday, April 9, 2012: Veteran CPI(M) leader V S Achuthanandan who was not reinstated in the party’s politburo at the party’s 20th congress here, today said he would continue doing party work as before.
In a brief talk with mediapersons here, Achuthanandan said he would not attend the public meeting later today as he has to leave for Thiruvananthapuram.
To a query on the newly constituted politburo at the concluding day of the party’s 20th congress here, he said it had chosen a 15-member politburo that would help the future functioning of the party.
”Prakash Karat has been re-elected General Secretary and Sitaram Yechury as the editor of People’’s Democracy party newspaper. All other arrangements have been made to carry forward the functioning of the party”, he said.
Achuthanandan said the congress had taken many decisions in connection with strengthening CPI(M) at the national level.
