698 deaths on roads in two months


Friday, April 6, 2012: Reports show that in the first two months of 2012, the State witnessed 698 deaths due to accidents.
80 per cent of the victims were two wheeler riders and pedestrians. As many as 60 per cent of the victims were above 60 years of age. About 90 per cent of the deaths were due to head injuries.
Considering the above facts, Kerala Police decided to conduct a ten-day traffic-awareness campaign as part of road-safety programme with the help of 10,000 student-police-cadet in the State from April 17.
