4 killed as KSRTC buses collide in T’puram

Monday, April 16, 2012: Four women were killed and 40 others injured in a collision between two KSRTC buses at Navayikulam in Thiruvananthapuram district on Sunday.
The buses involved in the mishap were Thiruvananthapuram-Thrissur Super Fast and Kollam-Thiruvananthapuram Fast. The incident happened at 6.30 pm.
Those deceased are identified as Vimala, Sulochana (55), Vidya (28) and Sujatha (35). Those injured has been admitted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital and Kollam District hospitals.
The solatium to the families of the deceased will be declared at the next cabinet meet. Minister V.S. Sivakumar said the KSRTC will meet the expenses of hospital expenditures for the treatment of the injured.
