Priyadarshnan awarded Padmashri

Wednesday, 25 January 2012: Kerala State Chalachithra Academy Chairman and film director Priyadarshnan, Pankajakasthuri Managing Director Dr. Hareendran Nair, Kalamandalam Sivan Namboothiri, Dr. V Adhimurty is awarded with Padmashri.
The late cartoonist Mario Miranda and the late musician Bhupen Hazarika were amongst the five people awarded the Padma Vibhushan. The others are sculptor K.G. Subramanyan, orthopaedist Kantilal Hastimal Sancheti and civil servant T.V. Rajeswar.
Veteran actors Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi and filmmaker of international repute Mira Nair were named for the Padma Bhushan, the country’s third highest civilian honour on the eve of Republic Day Wednesday.The three have been chosen in the art-cinema category.
