Muhammed Shameer was source of money for terrorists


THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday informed that Muhammed Shameer of Kannur who was arrested at New Delhi was a vital link for the inflow of money for terrorist purposes. His name was in the Most Wanted List of Central Home Ministry. He was caught by Abu Dhabi Police following NIA’s plea and was later brought to New Delhi.


Muhammed Shameer is a pivotal member of Jam-I-Yyathul Ansarul Muslimeen (JIAM), a subsidiary organization of Indian Mujahideen (IM). He has connections with terrorists in India and abroad. He was a close aide of Thadiyantavide Nazir (IM leader) and Sarfraz Nawaz.


It is understood that NIA has collected more information about Shameer’s terrorist connections. He has been active right from the Bangalore Bomb Blast. He had stayed at a lodge in Malappuram in 2007 for plotting the Bangalore Blast. Thadiyantavide Nazir and Riyas Bhadkal were also present there.


Those terrorists yet to be caught are K.P. Sabir, P.A. Raysal, Muhammed Asar, P.P. Yusuf and Sheffiq.
