Air India cancels T’puram-Kozhikode flight

Wednesday, January 4, 2012: Air India has on Wednesday cancelled the Thiruvananthapuram-Kozhikode flight due to the shortage of pilots.
The flight AK 9506, which was scheduled to begin journey at 9.30 am on Wednesday, was cancelled citing technical reasons.
There is shortage of AI pilots and they are inexperienced enough to run small flights belonging to ATR section, where 42 can travel. AI stated that as the company is in huge financing crisis, at present it can’t provide training to other pilots.
Instead of the cancelled flights, AI stated that travelers would be brought to Kochi in a AI 929 AI flight from Thiruvanathapuram international terminal and the flight goes to Riyadh from there. From Kochi they would be brought to Kozhikode via Air India Express from Kochi.
