V M Sudheeran asks Chidambaram to quit

Congress leader V M Sudheeran demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram at a function at the Public Library Hall here on  Sunday. Responding to the Home Minister’s statement that the political parties in Kerala are highlighting the issue to leverage the bypoll, Sudheeran remarked that: “Being the Home Minister, he is not supposed to make such frivolous statements. The political parties in Kerala never said anything against Tamil Nadu. The parties as well as the Chief Minister have always asked for a level playing field on the issue. We are concerned about the safety of the people and we are being assaulted in Tamil Nadu.  The Home Minister’s statement is an insult to the concerns of the Malayali population in Tamil Nadu. The Minister should resign from his position.”
Sudheeran was inaugurating a book release programme organised by the library. The function was presided over by Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi secretary P V Krishnan Nair. Balachandran Vadakedath, K K Hiranyan, K Raveendranath, Anganam chairman R I Shamsudheen and Meera Radhakrishnan also spoke on the occasion.
