Christmas: Kerala to get more rice, sugar

Friday, December 16, 2011: For Christmas season, the Centre would allot more rice and sugar for the State. The decision was taken in a meeting between the union food and civil supplies minister KV Thomas with state food and civil supplies minister Shibu Baby John.
The state is being allotted 4130 tones of sugar a month. During the previous onam season an extra 3600 tones were allotted. Special allowance is being given due to the request from the state as Kerala sought for an additional 7000 tones.
