Various acts for welfare on anvil: Mani

Kottayam :Kerala Finance Minister K M Mani today said various Acts, including Right to Service Act and protection to depositors were on the anvil for the welfare of the people.

Speaking at meet-the-press programme here, he said with the enactment of Right to Service Act, people would get various services of the government without flaws.

In reply to a question, the Minister said there was a plan to change the present prize structure of lotteries so that more people could enjoy its benefits instead of giving bumper prize to one.

Referring to duty-free rubber import, he said government should not give permission for duty-free or reduced rate import of natural rubber to help industrial lobby. The Government was not giving compensation to farmers when the price was coming down so there was no need to reduce the import duty to help the industrialists when the price was increasing. Further, there was no need for the import now as there was sufficient stock.
