SFI march turns violent in Kozhikode

Thursday, August 11, 2011: The protest march taken out by the Students Federation of India (SFI) activists to the Nadakkav police station in connection with the entry of Nirmal Madhav into the Govt College after getting admission into a private engineering college, turned violent today.
The whole area resembled a battlefield with the marchers fleeing from the police and throwing stones at the police. The activists attacked traffic SI Haridass. The police used water cannon and lathicharged the protesters to disperse the agitated mob. Many activists were injured in the incident. SFI district president Vaseef and 7 others were taken into custody.
