Russian festival in city from Sep 1

Sunday, August 21, 2011: Showcasing the world of Russian literature and films, a four-day Russian Festival, under the aegis of the Russian Cultural Centre, Thiruvananthapuram, and Russkiymir Foundation, Moscow, will be held in the city from September 1.
As part of the festival, eminent writers from the State will hold a series of classes on their favourite Russian writers. The session titled ‘Indian writer on Russian classics,’ will be led by Malayalam writers.
A collection of lyrical poems by Sergei Yesenin, translated by poet D Vinayachandran, will be released during the festival. Vinayachandran will be awarded the Yesenin Award 2011at the function. As part of the festival, a photo exhibition titled ‘Legends of Russian literature and culture’ will be held.
