Palmolein case: CPM demands Chandy’s resignation

Tuesday, August 23, 2011: CPM in Kerala on Tuesday demanded Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s resignation in connection with the Palmolein import scam in 1992.
Chandy should step down to facilitate a free and impartial probe in the case, Party State Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan said after inaugurating the LDF campaign here on Tuesday.
Pinarayi added that handing over charge of Vigilance Department to his close associate and Revenue Minister Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan was not sufficient. The probe ordered by the court would not be free and impartial if Chandy continued to be in office, Pinarayi said.
LDF would hold protest campaign in the 140 Assembly constituencies today demanding the resignation of Oommen Chandy regarding the same.
