Palmolein case: Court directs probe into Chandy’s role

Monday, August 8, 2011: The Thiruvananthapuram Vigilance Court on Monday rejected a report that stated that no further investigation was needed against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in the palmolein import case.
The Court directed that the role of Oommen Chandy who was the finance minister during the period should be probed and the report should be submitted within six months time.
The prosecution in a petition filed in March had sought court direction for further probe into the case contending that some more persons were likely to become accused in the case.
Former food minister TH Musthafa who is an accused in the case had moved a petition seeking to absolve him from the case as Chandy who was the finance minister was not been named as an accused.
