Nilambur: An elephant trampled a 70-year-old man to death here on Friday. Protesting against the apathy of forest department, the natives blocked the road with the dead body for one and half hours. Varkey Joseph, from Pothukallu was died. When he was passing through the forest, the elephant attacked him. A neighbor spotted him later. When the dead body was bringing back after the postmortem that natives blocked the road. The transportation was restored after having discussion with forest, police and revenue officials on assurance to do the needful.
