KSRTC driver hacked to death in T’puram, Employees strike begins


Wednesday, August 3, 2011: In a shocking accident, a KSRTC driver was beaten up by a lorry driver near Killiyil here resulting in his death. The dead has been identified as Rajan (53), hailing from Muttathara.

The strike called by the KSRTC in the capital city in protest against the death of one of their employees after an altercation with a lorry driver, began here this morning.
A driver of the KSRTC identified as P Rajan of the Vellarada depot died after a lorry driver Ajith Nair hit the former on his face during an incident of road rage at Killi yesterday. Rajan was beaten up for not giving the lorry driver a chance to overtake the bus. Ajith stopped the vehicle after overtaking Rajan, and slapped him on his cheek.
Rajan then went to Kattakada Police Station to file a complaint, and then to a primary health centre for check-up. But his condition worsened as soon as he was given an injection. He took his last breath on the way at Malayinkeezhu, when he was being taken to Medical College Hospital.
