Girl found on track: Probe to extend probe to Orissa

Thrissur: Mystery still continues over the 15-year-old girl from Orissa who was alleged to be pushed out of the train. Though police arrested her relative in connection with the incident, they are unable to trace the person who molested her. Police are planning to extend the probe to Orissa to get a clear picture of her family background. Police have also sought the report of an expert medical team about the molestation attempt to get scientific details.

The other day police held Jithin, 23, who is her relative. He told police he had stolen the money from a house in Chittissery and boarded the train with the girl and her sister. Later he pushed the elder girl out of the train. But he continues to affirm his statement that he had not molested the elder girl.

Blood and sperm samples taken from Jithin have been sent for test. Meanwhile, the girl who is now admitted at Medical College Hospital, Thrissur, is recovering. She now speaks clearly and has started taking food. But she did not disclose anything about the molestation bid. She is speaking to her mother and sister and had not said anything about the molestation attempt. Though doctors confirmed molestation, police asked for a medical report for its exact details.

The girl, daughter of migrant workers in a ceramic factory in Puthukkad near Thrissur, was found in an unconscious condition on the railway tracks at Chembissery near Thrissur on Monday. She was found during a search conducted on the basis of a complaint from the factory owner that she and her sister had escaped after stealing Rs 14,000.
