Wednesday, June 15, 2011: The CPM has come out against the proposed thermal power project in Cheemeni.
CPM Kasargod district secretary KP Satheesh Chandran today said that the announcement by Union minister of state for Energy KC Venugopal that the thermal plant would function using coal, couldn’t be accepted. He said that the project would result in serious environmental issues and the party would stand with the people against this.
KC Venugopal said that more importance must be given to Cheemeni project than Athirapilly for which environmental clearance was denied.
