Children's Film Festival begins today

June 18, 2011: The three-day children’s film festival began at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Kochi. The festival is being hosted in the State for the first time.
National Award winning child artiste Asna Aslam inaugurated the festival being organised by the Children’s Film Society, India, in association with the Heart Light Association. It is supported by the district administration, district information office, Kerala Cartoon Academy, and Saboo Coloniaa Visual Media.
Six films each will be screened — two each in the three venues of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Maharajas College Auditorium, and Chavara Cultural Centre — for the next three days. Films in Malayalam, Hindi, and English will be screened.
Speaking on the occasion, District Collector P.I. Sheikh Pareed said that an air-conditioned auditorium with the capacity to seat 200 children would be opened at the Children’s Park within two months.
The festival started off with the screening of Kelkkunnundo, a short film directed by actor-turned director Geethu Mohandas. Halo directed by Santhosh Sivan, Abhayam and Keshu directed by Sivan, English films Kid and Sunshine Barry and Disco Worms were screened on the first day.
