Anna Hazare's venue fast shifted to Raj Ghat

Tuesday, June 07, 2011: Denied permission to hold a day-long fast at Jantar Mantar, activist Anna Hazare and his supporters have now decided to shift the venue of their protest to Rajghat. They are protesting against the police action on Baba Ramdev over the weekend.
“We feel imposition of Section 144 at Jantar Mantar is illegal. Police has not objected to Rajghat as venue for fast tomorrow,” said Anna’s close aide and social activist Arvind Kejriwal addressing a press conference.
Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC were imposed at Jantar Mantar after Saturday’s incident at the Ramlila grounds. The police have cited law and order concerns as the reason for denying the permission.
Anna’s aides had said earlier that they would defy prohibitory orders if the police refused to give permission to hold the protest at Jantar Mantar. “The government ought to explain what threat Anna Hazare poses,” said Arvind Kejriwal.
