Adv. M Rahmathullah, CPI’s national council member Change Red to Green

Tuesday 17 May 2011: Adv. M Rahmathullah, CPI’s national council member, has decided to quit CPI and join the Muslim League.

He is a member of the CPI national council. Rahmatullah stated he has already submitted the resignation to the party leadership adding the reasons for moving out to the rival camp would be disclosed at a later stage.

CPI state leadership had sought an explanation from Rahmatullah for the dismal performance of the party nominee at Eranad assembly segment. The LDF candidate here finished a poor fourth securing only above 2000 votes.

Rahmathullah is expected to officially accept the party membership of Muslim League today. He is also the chairman of the housing board.

It is alleged some leaders of CPI headed by Rahmatullah pulled strings for the independent candidate, completely ignoring the party nominee. Rahmatullah had contested as the CPI nominee from Wayanad during the last Lokshabha polls.
